A Productive evening in the Workshop!

Posted on November 19, 2015 at 8:26 PM Comments comments ()
Thank goodness for my workshop in the evenings as it keeps me sane.  I am a Buyer in my day job which sounds like it should be fun but I think I might be the wrong type of business to be a Buyer.  My very non-glamorous job entails getting parts for heavy equipment and supplies to keep things running in a Steel Mill.  Every day is pretty much the same, something breaks, parts are needed immediately and the most creative thing I do is find the best price and then get them delivered to the jobsite ASAP.  While my days aren't fun it all melts away when I grab some wool and my felting needle.  The action of poking a needle into wool about a million times to create a deer, Santa or bunny is a real stress reliever.  So all that being said here is the product of a day full of stress...

Hope everyone has a Great weekend!  Jodi

Holiday Happenings

I am working like a little elf trying to get some Holiday Creations done for the Holidays.  So far I only have the Donkey ready to put in my Etsy store but I have lots of things just waiting to be finished...  I will post pictures here as I start put them together and when I get them done.

Barney's order shipped & Now starting Holiday Creations

I was working right up until the last minute and really didn't take many pictures but my creations are now at Barneys.  The theme this year was Icy blue and silver woodland animals.  I made penguins, deer, bunnies and foxes.  It was a happy day when we had everything packed up and ready to ship to Barneys!  I am busy making things for my Etsy store and will be posting a few pictures of what I am working on.

Happy June!

I took a little break from felting to work on a few other projects.  Winter was really hard on my landscape so I have been working on the garden, lots of interior painting and some spring cleaning.  But now my little mini vacation is over because am so excited to say Barneys has asked me back to create pieces for the Holiday Season.
Here are a few pictures of an old Rocker that has been in Dewey's family for a really long time.  As I was taking it apart I found lots of straw and horse hair and about a million upholstery tacks.  Dewey has some minor repairs to make but I hope to send it out to be upholstered this week.  I will have to show you how it turned out.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful spring!  Jodi

Just a few wool Babies from the Workshop just listed on my Etsy Store.  It has been so cold here in Ohio that I have been spending all my evenings after work in the workshop.  It seems like I can't sleep more than 4 hours a night anymore so when I wake up in the middle of the night when the house is all quite I write down my ideas in the notebook on my nightstand.  Sometimes I look at it later and wonder where was I going with that idea...  but last night I was thinking about the spun cotton mushrooms I had made and thinking that little wool chicks and ducks would look really cute under a mushroom for spring.  So tonight I will finish up a bunny I started and see if I can get a few chicks done this weekend... I am excited to see if this idea is as cute as the image in my head.

One last Look at Christmas in the Studio

Just a few pictures of Christmas in the Studio with my 1950's themed tree. Santa Greeting and helping me in the workshop.
I made a few late Winter/Spring items thinking that others might have that bare feeling in the house once all the Christmas decorations come down and need a sparkle.  Have a Great Week!  Jodi

Happy Holidays From Our House to Yours!

Happy Holidays from The Dean's at Swan Quarter House Creations!

I had been waiting for the sun to come out so I could snap a few pictures but living in Ohio with the clouds coming off the lakes we don't have too many clear sunny days in the winter.  I have been waiting for a week and no sun... So please excuse the poor exposure in my picture taking.  You really shouldn't get a glare from the blowmolds in the middle of the day!  This is Dewey's first Christmas since his retirement and he went all out with the outside decorations.  I bet you would never guess he loves vintage blowmolds!  I always knew what to buy him for Christmas but this year he may be disappointed because I couldn't find any that he didn't already have so he is getting another vintage item.  It may spark a whole new collection.  I laugh because we have so much stuff that the space under our garage is completely bursting with my Christmas hoard.  I only put out about half of our treasures.  I did include a picture of that to remind us that we might have a problem!  Merry Christmas!
